The Malaya Malays had been protected by a so-called pro-Malay policy of the colonial authorities. The British government felt that the Malays should not be pushed into the background in their own country. Since they were the "people of the country", they were granted special privileges. Reserves of suitable land were made to these son of the soil"; rice-growing was mainly confined to them. Special attention was paid to their education. Before World War II, the Malayan Administrative Service was specially created for Malays, and non-Malaya were barred from it.

Beyond Politics, relief for Andalas
When our friends and families from all races suffered in Taman Saujana, Taman Seri, Taman Angkasa along Jalan Sg Jati and Taman Sentosa in the recent flash floods whereby more than 8000 households were affected, to mitigate the problem my request to repair the damaged drainage hydro pump along Jalan Raja Nong was quickly acted upon by Majlis Perbandaran Klang. Thanks to Tuan Adi Faizal SU MPK for the quick response. Thanks to Tuan Nazri and Tuan Hakim from JPS for the advice. A community crisis can only be resolved by community action. A good team work by resident representatives and NGO's, Syabas for the UNITY. We are going to initiate the 'Andalas Flood Mitigation Action Group' soon, comprising representatives from residents, NGO's and volunteer groups to prepare and present to the local, State and Federal governments towards a long term solution to the problem. We shall unite beyond politics to resolve this perennial problem in ANDALAS.
TOWARDS RESOLVING THE FLOOD WOES IN DUN SERI ANDALAS, KOTA RAJA.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. How long more will the people in DUN SERI ANDALAS have to put with the flash floods? Promises after promises have been made, yet the problem remains. The people can no longer remain quiet expecting the autorities to solve the problems. It's time we take lead and work with MPK, the state and federal government. This is not the time to point fingers at each other as we should all work as ONE, if there is any hope to see a speedy end to this flooding. As a first step, a FLOOD MITIGATION COMMITTEE for DUN SERI ANDALAS, was formed to look into the flooding issues affecting many housing areas. A committee comprising 8 8 KRT Chairmen and 13 other members from various housing areas will start identifying flood prone areas, the causes and also to come up with solutions. Close to 100 affected residents attended the meeting and stories of how the floods have affected them over the years were shared. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. Expect to see more action in the coming weeks.

PRESS RELEASE BY DATO SERI S.K.DEVAMANY ON MIC'S INCREASING RELEVANCE
A recent statement by DAP’s YB V. Sivakumar has prompted me to find a reason to educate him on what MIC is actually about, and are doing for the Indian community. Being the third largest BN component party, MIC is a dignified party of equal consensus which takes our commitment to our people very seriously. I had in fact made that crystal clear in my recent press release, stating exactly what our agenda is and how our PM is ensuring our advancement. MIC is doing the necessary, and we are very relevant to our people. It is indeed shameful to see Sivakumar selling his community for a little bit of fame and cheap publicity.
As to MIC’s agenda for our people, we have put it in black & white for all to see, and we are very focused on our tasks ahead. It's easy to point fingers but let's practice some self reflection here. What has Sivakumar or DAP done for the Indians? What has Sivakumar himself done for his own people, for him to remain relevant? What is his true agenda for the Indians? Please enlighten us as I've not seen or heard anything so far. Now who's the real "nyamuk" here buzzing in the background?
Truth be known, MIC has become increasingly more relevant recently, with approximately 4,000 branches, with programmes reaching out to our people, with the amount of ground work our leaders are covering, with the amount of our community members having solutions to their problems, the list goes on but we are unfazed by any obstacles as our obligations to our community spurs us on.
This is clearly an act of desperation by Sivakumar, a natural reaction to how irrelevant DAP is becoming, and that is the fact of the matter. This is definitely not a dignified statement from a statesman, but instead that of a politician who is trying to gain advancement by degrading a party which represents the Indian community.
If we were to entertain everyone's attempt to get their 5 minutes of stardom, it would only diminish our potential and ability to help people who really need help. If one is incapable of fulfilling their own responsibilities, one should not hinder others from trying to make a positive difference. We at MIC welcome differing news, not distorted and degrading news.
For now, I would just like to remind all the relevant people of MIC to stay focused on our journey towards a successful PRU-14 for BN. We are making a difference, my comrades, let us continue our work steadfastly.

Government Allocates RM730 Million For SJK Tamil, through MIC Since 2010
The government has allocated RM730 million for the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of the Tamil national type schools (SJK TAMIL) in the country since 2010. MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the allocation was proof the government had never neglected the welfare and development of the 520 SJKT nationwide.
"There will be an additional seven SJKT, of which two have been completed while five others are still waiting for the land issue to be resolved," he told reporters after officiating the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the SJKT Ampang new block here Sunday. Also present was Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan. Dr Subramaniam, who is also Health Minister, said RM1 million had been allocated for building the school's additional block to accommodate an increase in the number of students. SJKT Ampang has only 30 students when it was first built in 1953 and the new block will have six classrooms to accommodate the 400 students at present.
In a similar development, he said the Education Ministry was also in efforts to move the SJKT previously located at plantations to urban areas. "About 60 per cent of the SJKT have been transferred to the towns from the plantation areas as there are currently more Indian students in the urban areas where there are limited SJKT," he added. http://www.barisannasional.org.my/en/news/government-allocates-rm730-million-for-sjkt-since-2010

Terlantar 5 hari tanpa makan. Hanya minum air kosong. Pemuda MIC Teluk Kemang telah membantu Uncle Thana Samy yang terlantar 5 hari sejak mengadu sakit perut. Kami dapati uncle Thana Samy yang tinggal keseorangan diri tidak bermaya dan lemah. Dengan segera telah memberi sedikit makanan dan hantar ke Hospital Port Dickson untuk rawatan. Kini sedang menerima rawatan di HPD. Kes ini telah dirujuk ke JKM untuk tindakan selanjutnya. Uncle Thana Samy adalah penerima bantuan kebajikan JKM. Turut terlibat Sdr Jackson, Ketua Penerangan Pemuda MIC Teluk Kemang dan Sdr Patel. Lawatan susulan akan dibuat dalam masa terdekat. Terima Kasih. Surach Nair - Ketua Pemuda MIC Teluk Kemang
