PRESS RELEASE BY DATO’ SRI S.K.DEVAMANY ON PERSONAL ATTACK OF MIC PRESIDENT

14th SEPTEMBER 2016

PRESS RELEASE BY DATO’ SRI S.K.DEVAMANY ON PERSONAL ATTACK OF MIC PRESIDENT

Our Jata Negara, the identity of Malaysia, states “Bersekutu Bertambah Mutu”, and is the core of our ruling government, where all component parties of Barisan Nasional have pledged to stand united to bring greater glory to our beloved country and people.  It is the underlying basis of which Malaysia has flourished since pre-Independence days, when Tunku Abdul Rahman formed Parti Perikatan (now Barisan Nasional) to win the first election. We have all co-existed ever since and become a formidable BN today.

Sad to see that a component party leader, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, has brought BN many steps back recently when he launched a personal attack on MIC President, Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam, because the latter merely requested the public spat among BN counterparts to cease so as to not benefit our rivals. How does that make our President someone who is caught in a time warp, who thinks the public and netizens are stupid and naïve? Mind you, these are labels by Datuk Seri Nazri and not our President. If anything, our President is a gentleman who has issued a statement today urging the cessation of statement and counter statements between our component parties. Datuk Seri Nazri’s mudslinging has angered grassroot MIC leaders. As such, how do we stand by quietly while there is an attempt to defame our President, directly going against the fundamentals of good leadership, which is not the culture of BN, where there is consensus and mutual respect to “SUPPORT” each other to thrive!

In response to Datuk Seri Nazri’s recent statement of non UMNO component parties “parachuting” leaders and candidates into safe areas, rather than fielding locals, I believe the term is strategic planning. I am sure even in the Tourism Ministry strategic planning is applied to lure and boost tourism. So it’s not rocket science, really! To quote Datuk Seri Nazri again, to be “mature and learn to accept criticism” is a subjective matter in the eye of the beholder. MIC now sees Datuk Seri Nazri as a renegade among BN component parties. Can he now accept that criticism maturely?

To quote him again, “privacy when it comes to politics is almost impossible”. I am very sure one would not be able to find a public discussion or forum of contents of the UMNO Supreme Council meeting, would they? Datuk Seri Nazri should apply some filter before he rants off, insulting the MIC President. It’s deplorable that in this age and era when all BN leaders, well almost all, are striving hard to build a stronger coalition, a Cabinet minister is playing dirty politics within our BN family.
